You taught me how to begin

I was a shadow fading in silence,
A heart misplaced in an empty room.
Then you arrived—not like thunder,
But like sunrise chasing gloom.

You saw the pieces I tried to hide,
The tremble behind my quiet smile.
You reached for me with steady grace,
And held me close a little while.

You didn’t ask why I was breaking,
You simply stayed and helped me heal.
With every word, you painted color
On walls I swore I'd never feel.

You became my gentle rescue,
The light I never knew to seek.
With you, I found a kind of courage
Even in the moments I was weak.

Now I dream in richer colors,
I breathe in rhythms calm and true.
Not because life became perfect—
But because I found it all in you.

And if the night begins to whisper
All the fears I once had known,
I only need to reach beside me
To remember I’m not alone.

You didn’t just love me—you restored me
Not by changing who I was,
But by loving me back in.
You taught me how to begin.
